Returning Home(page)
So, no updates for over two years.
I’ve been very unwell to the point I need assistance to do even basic household tasks like cleaning and preparing meals. Unfortunately I’ve already used the title “Rumours of my death have been slightly exaggerated” back in 2018, and it wasn’t even the last post I had to make on this topic.
While most of my life is a complete mess, I do have a few ideas about being able to actually get some more stuff I’ve done posted online.
Recentring dylanleigh.net
I’ve realised my plan to create a separate blog for more frequent posts was counter-productive, merely causing my limited energy and attention to be split. Therefore I’ll be moving all of the “new” blog posts to my original site on dylanleigh.net, and converting the blog to redirect there.
The only separate site I’ll maintain will be research.dylanleigh.net, as a repository for my academic research. It’s not going to be much effort anyway, as it’s now over 10 years since I published anything and about 7 years since I was last cited (that I’m aware of).
Social Media
As discussed in the last post, during the lockdowns I started using Reddit and Twitter (as it was still called, back then). While I still occasionally check Reddit, I’d stopped posting on Twitter around the time Vic Health gave up on protecting the public from Covid-19.
Like having a separate blog to this site, I’ve realised that using Reddit, Twitter (up to 2022) and Facebook (up to 2019) heavily was counterproductive and just dividing my limited energy/attention. I have set up a Mastodon account and started using that for some of the use cases for which I formerly used Twitter (following specific individuals, organisations and projects I’m interested in, posting links, and miscellaneous small things). Going forward it’s probably the only “Social Media” I’ll be using.
Email and Text
Email and text messages remain the best way to get in touch with me. This has been consistent since last century, so it’s unlikely to ever change.
